Pastes contain a high percentage of solid lubricant particles, thus providing a reliable lubrication and parting effect. They ensure good corrosion protection under extreme temperatures and pressures and even in the presence of aggressive media. Pastes are commonly used at screw threaded connections as well as for pressing in pins and bolts, at gearwheels, chucks, hinges and plain bearings.

Oils have the ability to dissipate heat well from the lubricating point. In addition they have good wetting ability and the ability to spread easily across the component and form a protective lubricating film. Oil lubrication is therefore often used at high temperatures or high speeds. Typical fields of application are gears, chains, friction bearings, hydraulic systems and compressors.

Greases are ideal for long-term lubrication, where you want the lubricant to remain at the lubricating point even against external influences such as humidity and foreign matter. This is because grease consist of a base oil that is bound by a thickener (soap). Grease ensures continued effective protection against friction and wear and seals the lubricating point against external influences. Greases are often used at roller and friction bearings, spindles, fittings, seals, guides but also at chains and gears.

Dry lubricants are materials which despite being in the solid phase are able to reduce friction between two surfaces sliding against each other without the need for a liquid mediaum. Dry lubricants can be classified into solid lubricants in powder form, ceraceous sliding films and inbonded coatings containing solids. Bonded coatings are solid lubricants, usually MoS2, graphite or PTFE that are incorporated into an organic or inorganic binder. In order to allow distribution of the bonded coating, a solvent which evaporates during the hardening or drying time is added. After thorough preparation of the surface, coating is carried out by means of immersion, spraying or painting.
